Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), as it’s called in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), it is is one of the least understood of personality disorders. In short narcissists live with fixation on fantasies of infinite success, control, brilliance, beauty, or idyllic love. It starts from childhood and still usually diagnosed in adulthood.

Narcissist will have the following patterns.

1) A grandiose sense of self-importance, exaggerating achievements and talents
2) Fantasizes about unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3) Believes that he or she is “special” and should associate only with high-status people or institutions
4) Requires excessive admiration.
5) Has a sense of entitlement, expects favourable treatment or automatic compliance.
6) Is interpersonally exploitative, taking advantage of others
7) Lacks empathy, unwilling to recognise or identify others’ feelings and needs

1) Destroys your support system when you need it most.
2) Socialises with no fear while the victim pulls away
3) Does not experience empathy
4) Will have maddening ability to charm you

It is advised not to take their behaviour personally or else you would be in extreme vulnerable state and also suggested to leave the relationship with narcissists to avoid more damages in personal life. In many cases therapies may make narcissists to change as well.
